Making The Law of Attraction Work For You

Unless you've been asleep for the past year, you've no doubt heard about "The Secret," which is based upon the Law of Attraction. People all over the world are using the Law of Attraction to redefine their lives and to begin walking the path to fulfillment, well-being, and wealth.

The Law of Attraction is a universal force that rules our lives. At its heart is the premise that the thoughts you have radiate a vibrational energy (sometimes known as the Law of Vibration) that attracts similar matter and energy. Put in simple terms, it can be summed up as "like attracts like."

In less abstract terms, the Law of Attraction is about self-fulfilling prophecy. If you think you are going to fail a test, for example, you set yourself up to fail the test. If you think you are going to marry the partner of your dreams, you will find and marry that person. The bottom line is that, whatever we want, we receive.

Of course, many people say they want things like health, wealth, and happiness, but few actually achieve it. The operative word here is "say." While we might sometimes wish for these things, wishing doesn't make it happen. Indeed, when we delve deep into ourselves, we may discover that the things we say we want don't reflect our deepest desires and beliefs about ourselves. Anyone who has engaged in personal growth activities, either going the self help route or though the help of a motivational coach, knows that what we say we want and what we truly want are often very different. For example, we may say we want to get out of debt, but find ourselves buying things we can't afford. We may think we want a genuine, loving relationship, but consistently choose to date people who are duplicitous and dismiss dating solid, trustworthy people as boring.

Living our lives according to the Law of Attraction isn't a choice; it's something that happens whether or not we are aware of it. However, the beauty of it is that it also allows us to take an active role what we attract, and in the process shape our lives.

Personal growth instructors like Bob Proctor, who is featured in "The Secret," focus on helping people to create and manifest the desires that can make them both wealthy and fulfilled. They use a variety of tools, such as CDs, books, home seminar courses, lessons and exercises, personal vision boards, whiteboards, and goal cards, to help motivate and direct people to pinpoint their current desires and develop new visions and goals.

Motivational coaches then help people move beyond the "thinking" stage to the "action" stage. According to the Law of Attraction, while thoughts create vibrational energy, you must also consciously act upon your desires in order to have them manifest in your life. This may mean quitting your job, dumping your boyfriend, or even moving. Some may think that this requires a leap of faith, but those who understand the Law of Attraction know that they are currently reaping what they have sown in the past. So, to move on to achieving their goals and dreams, they have to begin sowing new seeds. Ultimately, when the Law of Attraction is seen as the immutable force that it is in the universe, it's relatively easy to shift paradigms to make that force work for you rather than against you.
